Obama's Communication Takeover Order Created To Protect Government?

Obama's Communication Takeover Order Created To Protect Government?
In case you missed it, Obama slipped by another weekend executive order that threatens our civil liberties. This time, the dictator decreed that, in times of "crisis", the implementation of emergency communications through all wired and wireless networks shall be directed by the Executive Branch. Full of Orwellian language, the order is prefaced with the following sentence:
The Federal Government must have the ability to communicate at all times and under all circumstances to carry out its most critical and time sensitive missions.
Throughout the history of American crises, I can think of no "critical mission" that the Government has carried out that would have required the Executive Branch controlling all emergency communications. In fact, the only scenario in which I could see this order being used is one in which the Government itself is threatened, either by foreign invasion or by citizen revolt. No disaster, natural or man-made, would require the Executive Branch having this power.

If that wasn't scary enough, there's more: According to Obama's decree, what constitutes a "crisis" is at the Executive Branch's discretion. Says the Washington Times:
Based on our analysis of this order, it would appear that the implementation of emergency communications by Obama, using all forms of wired and wireless communication systems, is redirected through the Executive branch and could expand such takeover abilities beyond the limits of an actual act of war, national emergency, or other event impacting the national security of the U.S.
Got tyranny?

  1. seth, you should add this to your "obama as a dictator" list and publish an updated version right before the election.

  2. I thought "we are the government?" So, aren't we just doing this to ourselves? I mean, isn't that what a democracy is? "We the people" now choose to tax ourselves into slavery, to engage in a war on a human emotion without end and throw ourselves in jail if we think we are a terrorist. I should go scan myself with x-rays because "we are the government."
